The unit-construction-hub is a space, an installation and a process repository for the production of a single land-vehicle unit. It is very low cost alternative to assembly-line based factory production. It integrates the functions of production and post-production maintenance into a single installation.
It is a hub format production facility, as opposed to an assembly line. It can be operated from a large sized repair garage. It consists of the tooling necessary for the production of a single land-vehicle unit. Once produced, the unit can be repaired or maintained at the same or similar facility. Unit-construction-hub based production is a (significantly) lower-cost alternative to assembly-line based production for very low volume vehicle-production.
A network of unit-construction-hubs can be deployed in a similar fashion as a battery charging network. This can be done to scale up production and is needed for maintenance. Replicating a unit-construction-hub multiple times would reduce it's cost. A single unit can be produced in an estimated 2 days. 16 hrs vs 15 minutes or 64:1 slower than a typical automotive assembly line. The hub can be designed to produce or service a specific type of vehicle only.
We have started prototyping a unit-construction-hub for the production of a bicycle-stabiliser, and plan to extend that to the production or any micro-mobility class vehicle. The unit-construction-hub is directly tied to our design-specification tool, The Specifier. A land-vehicle that has been specified using The Specifier can be produced at an associated unit-construction-hub. Since The Specifier specifies the construction-process of a land-vehicle design, this process can be used as a basis for the design of a production-process in an associated unit-construction-hub.
